The Opportunity

As Gallagher continues to grow, we're expanding our Information Systems team to meet increasing demand, strengthen our capability, and support the next stage of our global journey.

As Head of Applications & Engineering, you'll lead the strategy, delivery and ongoing evolution of Gallagher's enterprise application landscape and engineering capability. You'll oversee a broad portfolio spanning SAP ERP, enterprise applications, customer and commerce platforms, integration services and the software engineering teams (both internal and external) that design, build and support them.

More than keeping the lights on, you'll create an engineering culture focused on quality, innovation and continuous improvement. You'll ensure our applications are resilient, scalable and aligned with business strategy while driving the delivery of new digital capabilities that support Gallagher's future growth.

Working closely with Architecture, Data, the PMO and senior business leaders, you'll influence technology direction, modernise engineering practices, strengthen strategic vendor partnerships and build a high-performing team that delivers at enterprise scale.

What You’ll Do

• Lead Gallagher's enterprise applications portfolio, ensuring it remains secure, modern, reliable and aligned to business priorities

• Drive the strategy and ongoing optimisation of SAP ERP and core business platforms

• Build a high-performing engineering function focused on modern development practices, DevOps maturity and continuous improvement

• Oversee the delivery of customer-facing platforms, digital products and integration services

• Balance operational excellence with strategic transformation initiatives and major technology programmes

• Develop, coach and inspire multidisciplinary teams across engineering, applications and delivery

• Partner with senior stakeholders to translate business strategy into technology outcomes that create lasting value

The Fit

You're a strategic technology leader who combines commercial thinking with strong technical credibility. You know how to lead through complexity, build high-performing teams and create trusted partnerships across the business.

You'll be equally comfortable shaping long-term strategy, leading enterprise-scale delivery and driving operational excellence.

You'll bring:

• Significant leadership experience across enterprise applications, software engineering or digital technology within a complex organisation

• Deep experience with ERP and enterprise application environments, with SAP ECC and S4/HANA highly desirable

• Proven success leading large, multidisciplinary technology teams

• Strong understanding of modern software engineering, cloud platforms, integrations and enterprise architecture

• Experience balancing operational support with strategic technology transformation

• Excellent commercial acumen, including vendor and partner management

• Outstanding communication, stakeholder engagement and influencing skills
