Field Technical Support
Solve real-world AgTech challenges on-ranch, combining hands-on technical expertise with customer impact across North America.
We usually respond within a week
Your workshop is thousands of acres.
If you're the person people call when technology isn't behaving and you won't stop until you've figured out why, this could be your kind of role.
eShepherd is virtual fencing for cattle. Our technology combines solar-powered neckbands, electronics, firmware, connectivity and intelligent software to give ranchers new ways to manage cattle and grazing without putting another physical fence in the ground.
Already used across 20+ countries, eShepherd is scaling across North America. We're looking for technically curious, hands-on people who can make sure our technology performs where it matters most: on the ranch.
Why eShepherd?
What we build changes how ranchers live.
Our customers are moving cattle remotely, managing grazing more precisely, using labor differently and creating grazing areas without building physical fences.
You'll join a global team building something nobody has done at this scale before. We move quickly, learn from real ranches in real conditions and improve as we go. We use modern technology and data hard, but we know some of the best insights still come from standing in a pasture with a customer.
eShepherd combines the pace and opportunity of a scaling AgTech business with the backing of Gallagher, a global company that's been solving problems alongside farmers and ranchers for 88 years.
You'll receive competitive compensation, ongoing learning and development, wellbeing support and region-specific Gallagher benefits.
The opportunity
This isn't a desk-based technical support role.
One day you'll be remotely diagnosing a connectivity or firmware issue. The next, you could be on-ranch troubleshooting hardware, supporting an installation or helping a producer get more from their eShepherd system.
You'll become a trusted technical advisor to our customers, combining technical expertise with practical problem-solving to keep them moving.
And what you learn in the field doesn't stop with the fix.
You'll work with our global Product, R&D and Production teams, turning what you discover on North American ranches into insights that improve eShepherd for customers around the world. The role is designed to provide hands-on and remote technical support across electronics, firmware and connectivity, while helping customers get the best from their eShepherd technology.
What you'll do
Diagnose and resolve electronics, firmware, hardware and connectivity issues remotely and on-ranch.
Support installations, system updates, maintenance and customer training, coordinating warranties and replacement parts when needed.
Build trusted relationships with ranchers and rural contractors, understanding their operation and helping them get the most from eShepherd.
Conduct hands-on hardware diagnostics and teardown investigations to identify the cause of technical issues.
Explain complex technical problems in straightforward, practical language and follow issues through to resolution.
Bring what you're seeing in the field back to Product, R&D and Production, helping improve future product releases and support tools.
Identify opportunities for greater product adoption and partner with Sales to support customer growth.
Who thrives here?
You're the person who needs to know why.
You enjoy diagnosing faults, testing theories and working through problems until they make sense. You're technically capable, practical with your hands and comfortable moving between hardware, electronics, firmware and software.
But you're just as good with people.
You can talk technology with an engineer and explain the same issue to a rancher without hiding behind technical jargon.
You take ownership. You don't wait for someone else to solve the problem. When you start something, you follow it through.
You're also comfortable when there isn't a perfect playbook. eShepherd is building technology at a scale that hasn't existed before, and sometimes the answer won't be obvious.
That's part of what makes the job interesting.
What you'll bring
Practical experience with electronics, firmware, AgTech or connected technology.
Strong hands-on diagnostic and problem-solving capability.
A customer-first mindset and the ability to make complex technology simple.
Curiosity, initiative and the drive to take ownership through to resolution.
Confidence troubleshooting across hardware and software.
The ability to organize, prioritize and manage your own workload across a large territory.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Experience in field service, technical sales or working directly with agricultural customers would be an advantage.
Why this role matters
When you're great at this job, customers feel it.
A rancher gets back up and running faster. A technical problem becomes an insight that improves the product. And something you discover on a ranch in North America could influence what our engineers build next.
If you're technically curious, great with people and would rather solve real problems in the field than spend every day behind a desk, come build the next era of ranching with us.
