The Opportunity
Gallagher is looking for a technically minded and commercially driven Technical Business Development Manager to join our Security team, covering the Rest of Africa region. Based in Johannesburg, this is an influential role where you’ll shape business development strategies, expand our footprint through new market opportunities, and support the growth and retention of our client and channel partner base. The role will involve extensive travel across Africa as you connect with customers, partners, and industry leaders.
Reporting to the Sales Manager – Security Rest of Africa, you’ll be at the centre of driving Gallagher’s growth across diverse markets. If you enjoy building trusted relationships, tackling complex technical challenges, and finding innovative solutions that protect people, businesses, and critical infrastructure, this role is for you.
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Lead and implement regional business development strategies to grow revenue and Gallagher’s presence across Africa
- Identify and cultivate new business opportunities in key industry verticals and geographic markets
- Develop, recruit, and manage channel partner relationships - becoming their trusted advisor
- Retain and grow existing key clients through proactive support, anticipating needs, and maximising lifetime value
- Collaborate with internal technical, sales, and operational teams to deliver tailored proposals, tenders, and project outcomes
- Provide accurate forecasting, reporting, and market insights to inform strategy and decision making
- Stay across industry trends, competitor activity, and new technologies to keep Gallagher ahead of the game
The Fit
We’re looking for someone with a strong track record in business development within the IT or security systems sector, who thrives in a high-performance, results-driven culture. You’ll be comfortable balancing technical conversations with strategic commercial decisions, and skilled at building lasting relationships.
We’re Looking For:
- 5+ years’ B2B business development or sales experience, ideally in an international/export security or IT systems environment
- A tertiary qualification in business, engineering, marketing, or a related field
- Knowledge of security solutions (such as CCTV, fire systems, access control, perimeter intrusion, key/visitor management, and time & attendance systems)
- Strong understanding of IT systems and networking, with the ability to read technical drawings
- Proven success in channel partner recruitment, onboarding, and management
- Project management skills - task prioritisation, time management, and negotiation
- Ability to build relationships with consultants, specifiers, major clients, and industry influencers
- Willingness and ability to travel extensively across Africa
