The Opportunity
Are you a technically minded plastics professional who enjoys troubleshooting, improving manufacturing processes and finding practical solutions to production challenges?
We're looking for a motivated and experienced Plastics Technician to join our manufacturing team, playing an important role in optimising plastics production processes, supporting tooling development and driving continuous improvement across our operations.
Reporting to the Engineering Technical Manager – Plastics, you'll work closely with our Plastics, Maintenance, Tool and Die, Engineering and R&D teams to identify opportunities for improvement, resolve technical challenges and support the successful introduction of new products into manufacturing.
This is a hands-on, technically focused opportunity where you'll be involved in everything from process optimisation and equipment troubleshooting through to tooling trials, product validation and production improvements.
You'll have the opportunity to apply your technical expertise, influence how things are done and contribute directly to the quality, efficiency and performance of Gallagher's plastics manufacturing operations.
The Fit
You'll be a practical, technically capable plastics professional who enjoys getting hands-on, understanding how things work and finding better ways of doing things.
You'll bring strong mechanical aptitude, an analytical approach to problem-solving and the confidence to work across different teams to identify and implement improvements.
Whether you're already working in a technical plastics role or have developed strong technical capability through hands-on manufacturing experience, you'll be someone who takes ownership, enjoys a challenge and is motivated by improving processes and performance.
We're looking for someone with:
A PAMPITO qualification and/or Level 4 Trade Certificate in Plastics Engineering.
Proven experience in plastics manufacturing, process engineering or a related technical manufacturing environment.
Strong mechanical aptitude and a solid understanding of manufacturing equipment, processes and systems.
Experience troubleshooting production equipment, identifying process issues and implementing practical solutions.
Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma or other continuous improvement methodologies.
Experience supporting tooling trials, process validation or new product introduction activities would be advantageous.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with excellent attention to detail.
The ability to work independently, manage competing priorities and collaborate effectively across technical and operational teams.
Strong communication skills and a commitment to quality, safety and continuous improvement.
Familiarity with CAD software, manufacturing systems or process documentation would be beneficial.
If you're passionate about plastics manufacturing, enjoy solving technical challenges and want to play a key role in improving processes and bringing new products to life, we'd love to hear from you.
