About the Role
This is an opportunity to join Gallagher Security’s Software Development group as part of an agile development team that designs, builds and maintains the software behind our world-class security solutions.
We have multiple opportunities available across junior and intermediate levels – whether you’re an enthusiastic junior ready to grow your capability or an experienced developer looking for your next challenge.
As a Software Engineer, you’ll help shape software design and develop, debug and maintain high-quality source code for products used by customers around the world. You’ll work closely with Value Owners, Testers, Technical Support, Engineering Services and fellow Software Engineers, taking real ownership of the quality of your work and helping your squad achieve its goals.
These roles offer the chance to solve meaningful, complex problems, contribute to modern software engineering practices, and grow your career in a team where continuous improvement and learning are part of how we work.
As part of #TeamGallagher you will:
• Enjoy developing high-quality commercial software and contributing to the success of a world-class product.
• Enjoy working as part of an agile team, sharing ideas and supporting each other to deliver great outcomes.
• Enjoy a culture and workplace that fosters collaboration, sharing knowledge and continuous improvement.
• Enjoy being challenged and solving problems.
• Enjoy an environment where growth and learning are encouraged.
Key responsibilities:
• Design, develop, debug and maintain software components using the right languages and tools.
• Break down, estimate and deliver work within agreed timeframes.
• Produce high-quality, low-defect code through agreed coding standards, code reviews, automated testing and unit tests.
• Lead defect investigations and provide technical software support for existing products to drive prompt problem resolution.
• Collaborate with your squad and wider teams in an agile environment, following our software development process.
• Review designs, share feedback and stay up to date with industry trends to continuously improve our products and your skills.
You’ll bring:
• Relevant tertiary qualification or equivalent experience
• Experience to match the level – from enthusiastic juniors with a demonstrated ability to learn, through to intermediate engineers with proven commercial development experience
• Experience with C# (WPF, generics, .NET)
• SQL Server development experience
• Confidence using development environments, version control and debugging tools to track down and resolve problems
• Ability to design and document product features or modules, and a track record of contributing to successful projects in a collaborative team
• Experience with Agile, automated testing (unit, API and UI automation), C++ templates, Ruby, and supporting multiple versions of released products (desirable)
We’re interested in your potential as well as your experience, so if you have some of the skills above and are keen to learn the rest, we’d love to hear from you.
