At eShepherd, you'll design and improve the physical hardware behind our virtual fencing technology, helping farmers manage livestock in new ways while improving productivity, animal welfare, and operational efficiency. Every design decision you make has a direct impact in the field.

As a Mechanical Engineer, you'll work across the full product lifecycle, from concept and development through to production and field support, partnering closely with electronics, firmware, product and manufacturing teams to deliver practical, reliable and manufacturable solutions. You'll also work closely with customer-facing teams, turning real-world insights into product improvements that make a difference.

What You'll Be Doing

As part of our team, you'll contribute to the design, development and continuous improvement of the hardware that enables eShepherd technology to perform reliably in demanding farming environments.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Designing robust, cost-effective mechanical solutions for new products and product enhancements.

• Supporting projects from concept development through to testing, production and field deployment.

• Participating in design reviews, DFM reviews and DFMEA activities.

• Identifying technical issues early and helping drive practical engineering solutions.

• Collaborating closely with electronics, firmware, manufacturing and product teams.

• Investigating field performance, reliability issues and warranty concerns.

• Working directly with customer-facing teams to understand real-world product performance.

• Translating customer and field insights into meaningful design improvements.

• Supporting continuous improvement across products, processes and technologies.

What You'll Bring

We're looking for a practical engineer who enjoys solving problems, learning through experimentation and seeing the real-world impact of their work.

Ideally, you'll have:

• A Bachelor of Engineering degree or equivalent.

• At least 3 years' experience in a product development or R&D environment.

• Strong knowledge of injection moulded plastics and material selection.

• Experience designing functional mechanisms.

• Proficiency with CAD software, ideally PTC Creo.

• Experience with GD&T, design reviews, DFM and DFMEA.

• Strong root cause analysis and troubleshooting skills.

• The ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to a range of stakeholders.

• A continuous improvement mindset and comfort working with progress over perfection.
