The Opportunity
As Engineering Lead, you'll play a critical role in leading our Support Engineering team and shaping the quality and reliability of Gallagher's solutions. Reporting to the Value Stream Lead, you'll guide a team of engineers through complex technical challenges, champion engineering excellence, and ensure customer issues are resolved with speed and quality.
This role combines people leadership, technical influence, and delivery accountability. You'll collaborate across the business to identify risks, drive improvements, and ensure our products remain robust, secure, and ready to meet the evolving needs of customers worldwide.
You'll be responsible for
Acting as the technical authority for the team, providing leadership and guidance across support and product engineering activities
Leading technical investigations and driving the resolution of complex customer-facing issues
Ensuring technical decisions balance quality, performance, supportability, risk, and delivery objectives
Coaching, mentoring, and developing engineers across different experience levels
Building a high-performing team through effective leadership, feedback, and development planning
Working closely with Product, Support, Manufacturing, and Project teams to achieve business outcomes
Managing technical risk, prioritisation, and delivery predictability
Driving continuous improvement across engineering practices, escalation processes, and product quality
Supporting architecture discussions, design reviews, and critical technical decision-making
Communicating technical challenges, progress, and decisions to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
Contributing hands-on when required to support critical projects or resolve complex issues
The Fit
You combine strong engineering expertise with proven leadership experience. Whether you're mentoring engineers, navigating technical challenges, or aligning priorities across teams, you bring the confidence and credibility needed to drive successful outcomes in a fast-paced environment.
You'll also bring:
A tertiary qualification in a relevant engineering discipline
At least 10 years' experience in a relevant engineering or product development environment
Proven experience delivering technical outcomes on large, complex projects
Strong leadership experience, including coaching, mentoring, and developing engineers
Experience working in support, escalation management, or customer-facing technical environments
Strong understanding of complex systems, reliability, performance, and lifecycle management
Excellent problem-solving, decision-making, and risk management capabilities
Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills
The ability to operate effectively in ambiguous and fast-evolving environments
A commitment to continuous improvement, collaboration, and engineering excellence
