About the Role
Gallagher Security’s Platform Portfolio is growing, and we’re looking for a Senior Software Engineer to help design, build, and evolve secure, scalable, and high-quality software solutions that support our global customer base.
This is a senior hands-on engineering role where you’ll contribute deeply to technical delivery while also mentoring others, influencing technical direction, and helping the team lift engineering standards.
You’ll suit this role if you’re already operating at a senior level and are ready to broaden your impact - whether that’s through technical ownership, coaching others, or stepping further into a leadership pathway over time.
In this role, you’ll:
Design, develop, test, and support secure, scalable, and maintainable software across Gallagher Security’s platform environment
Take ownership of complex technical work, contributing to design discussions, architecture decisions, code quality, and delivery outcomes
Mentor and support other engineers through code reviews, technical guidance, knowledge sharing, and constructive feedback
Work closely with Product, UX/UI Design, Architecture, Platform, DevOps, Security, and engineering teams to deliver high-quality solutions
Champion modern engineering practices, automation, standards, continuous improvement, and team effectiveness
About You
You’re an experienced Senior Software Engineer who enjoys solving complex technical problems, building quality software, and helping others grow. You bring strong engineering judgement, curiosity, and the confidence to guide technical decisions while staying close to the tools and delivery.
You’ll be motivated by the opportunity to broaden your influence - mentoring engineers, supporting better ways of working, and stepping into leadership moments without losing your connection to hands-on engineering.
You’re collaborative, clear in your communication, and comfortable working with both technical and non-technical stakeholders to turn ideas into practical, well-built solutions.
Ideally, you’ll bring:
Strong full-stack software engineering experience, ideally at senior level, with deep technical expertise in a core discipline and the ability to work across related systems and technologies
Hands-on development experience and a genuine interest in staying close to the tools, code, design, and delivery
Experience mentoring, coaching, or supporting other engineers through code reviews, technical guidance, knowledge sharing, or informal leadership
Strong experience with CI/CD and build pipelines
Experience designing an SDK or API that other teams or companies can build against
The ability to balance technical excellence with delivery, quality, risk, security, compliance, and long-term maintainability
Clear communication, strong collaboration skills, and the confidence to influence technical direction across varied stakeholder groups
A continuous improvement mindset and curiosity about new tools, automation, standards, engineering practices, and industry trends
Nice to have skills:
While not necessary for this role, if you've built serious real-time video in another domain, (broadcast, video over IP, video conferencing, medical imaging, robotics) and want to apply it to physical security, we would be interested to hear from you.
Working at Gallagher
You’ll be part of a global, future-focused organisation where creativity and innovation are valued and supported. Working in an environment driven by collaboration, innovation, passion, craftsmanship and mutual respect, you’ll help achieve our team purpose to translate vision into exceptional creations.
We also offer:
Competitive salary and bonuses
Hybrid flexibility (typically 3 days in the office a week, with additional onsite days required depending on work demands)
KiwiSaver on-top and Life and Disability insurance
Mentorship and professional development opportunities
A supportive team culture with team-building events, creative inspiration trips and a fun environment
Growth at Gallagher is constant, and we are building our team with like-minded individuals who relate to our story so that together we can continue to push the boundaries of what is possible.
