About Gallagher
Our purpose at Gallagher is to protect what matters most, and for more than 85 years we've been doing just that. From securing some of the world's most valuable assets and most sensitive sites, to helping farmers operate responsibly, productively, and profitably, Gallagher technology is trusted in more than 160 countries.
Recently our global success was recognised at the New Zealand International Business Awards, taking home both Best Large Business and Supreme Winner.
People are at the heart of our success, and great communication plays a vital role in helping internal and external audiences understand who we are, where we're going, and why it matters.
The opportunity
We're looking for a talented Visual Communications Specialist to join our Group Communications & Community team, based in Hamilton, New Zealand.
You’ll create visual content used across a global organisation, helping people connect with our strategy, culture, initiatives, achievements, future direction, and so on.
This is a hands-on role for a true end-to-end creative doer. You’ll be expected to take work from idea through to final delivery across graphic design, video, print, photography, plus basic animation, motion graphics, and other multimedia.
This isn't a role for someone who simply waits for briefs. We're looking for a curious, proactive creative who understands that great graphic design and video exist to solve communication challenges and unlock opportunities, not just create attractive work.
What you'll be doing
You'll:
Lead and deliver end-to-end creative production across graphic design, videography, photography, print, basic animation and motion graphics, and multimedia, including concept development, planning, design, filming, editing, artwork preparation, refinement, and final delivery.
Translate business priorities, complex ideas, and communication objectives into engaging visual experiences.
Proactively identify opportunities where visual media can strengthen communication outcomes, rather than waiting for work to come to you.
Partner closely with the Group Communications & Community team to develop creative concepts that engage audiences.
Lead the creative development of Gallagher's flagship internal events, from concept and event theming through to live production. This includes hands-on support for event set-up, live delivery and pack-down.
Develop print-ready collateral including brochures, newsletters, event materials, signage, large-format graphics, presentations, and other branded assets.
Regularly collaborate with creative and marketing teams across Gallagher Security and Gallagher Animal Management to share ideas, align visual approaches and lift the quality of Group visual communications.
Evolve Gallagher's Group visual identity by understanding and drawing inspiration from the visual identities of our Security and Animal Management businesses.
About you
You’re a highly capable graphic designer and videographer with a portfolio that demonstrates strong creative judgement, technical skill, and visual storytelling ability. You genuinely enjoy helping organisations communicate more effectively.
You’ll be comfortable being the sole Visual Communications Specialist within the Group Communications & Community team, bringing creative confidence, initiative, and judgement while collaborating closely with wider Marketing creatives across the business.
You understand that the best visual work is grounded in audience, message, channel, and outcome.
You'll bring:
A strong portfolio showcasing high-quality graphic design and videography work.
The ability to produce work with speed, accuracy, and strong attention to detail.
A passion for communications, storytelling, and audience engagement.
The ability to move confidently between strategy, creative concepting, design, filming, editing, and production.
Solid graphic design skills, with strong typography, layout, composition, and print production knowledge.
Experience creating engaging video content from concept through to final edit.
Curiosity about business and people, with the ability to spot communication opportunities.
Strong relationship-building skills and the confidence to challenge briefs and recommend better creative solutions.
The ability to own the full creative process from brief, concept, production, editing, design refinement, stakeholder feedback, final artwork, and delivery.
Experience using Adobe Creative Cloud, including InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere Pro, and After Effects.
This is a Hamilton-based role, with an expectation of being in the office at least four days per week on average to support close collaboration, content production, events, and stakeholder engagement.
Why Gallagher?
At Gallagher, you'll join a collaborative team that values creativity, curiosity, and continuous improvement. You'll have the opportunity to work on meaningful projects that reach Gallagher people around the world, shape how Gallagher tells its story, and contribute to a global brand that's continuing to grow.
If you're looking for a role where you can combine excellent creative capability with strategic communications, and genuinely influence how a global organisation connects with its people, we'd love to hear from you.
Ready to apply?
Please submit your cover letter and CV, along with a portfolio showcasing your graphic design, videography, and other relevant creative work. Your portfolio is a key part of your application and should demonstrate your ability to develop concepts, tell compelling stories, make the complex understandable, and deliver high-quality visual communications across a range of formats.
We'd also love to hear the thinking behind one of your featured projects as part of your application.
We’ll be reviewing, shortlisting, and interviewing candidates as applications are received – so we recommend getting your application in as soon as possible.
