About Gallagher
At Gallagher, our purpose is to protect what matters most — and we live that every day. Our technology is used in more than 160 countries, protecting everything from government infrastructure and global headquarters to dairy farms, wildlife parks, and critical sites around the world.
Headquartered in Hamilton and proudly New Zealand-owned since 1938, we’re a global technology business with over 1,700 people worldwide. As we continue to grow, we’re looking for a commercially minded finance leader to help strengthen and evolve our global finance function.
The Opportunity
We are looking for a Group Finance and Tax Lead to take a key leadership role across financial reporting, tax compliance and governance across Gallagher’s global operations.
You will lead the group finance function, with accountability for financial reporting, tax compliance, and treasury, while providing strategic direction on financial processes and ensuring alignment with business needs and regulatory requirements.
This role goes beyond technical delivery—you will actively lead, coach, and develop the team, fostering a high-performing environment and elevating capability across the function.
In this strategic position, you will also drive continuous improvement initiatives, influencing change across the finance function and strengthening its ability to support the company’s broader objectives.
Purpose of the Role
This role sits at the centre of Gallagher’s global finance function — providing leadership across financial reporting, tax, governance, and treasury while helping strengthen the systems, controls, and capability that support a growing international business.
Working closely with senior leadership, you’ll help ensure the business has strong financial visibility, scalable processes, and governance frameworks that support informed decision-making and long-term growth.
Key responsibilities
Lead group consolidation, statutory reporting, and audit requirements
Oversee NZ and AU tax compliance, governance, and transfer pricing activities
Support treasury oversight and broader financial risk management
Lead ERP and finance systems initiatives from a governance and compliance perspective
Improve finance processes, reporting frameworks, and internal controls
Provide reporting and financial insight to executive and governance stakeholders
Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing finance team
Build strong relationships across Gallagher’s global operations and external partners
The Fit
To be successful in this role, you’ll bring a strong background in financial reporting, compliance management, and tax within a complex environment.
You are a strategic and commercially minded leader, with experience across NZ and AU tax, including exposure to transfer pricing, and a track record of operating within robust corporate governance frameworks at a global level.
You bring expertise in tax governance, financial consolidation, and ERP environments, and are confident working cross-functionally to influence outcomes and build strong relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.
You are equally comfortable leading and developing a team as you are engaging at a senior level, driving accountability, and lifting capability across the finance function.
The ideal candidate will have:
A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or Business Administration
Be CA, CPA, or CIMA Qualified
Proven experience in financial reporting, group consolidation, and operating within strong governance frameworks
Demonstrated ability to lead, coach, and develop teams, fostering a high-performance and continuous improvement culture
Strong technical accounting skills with a focus on compliance and reporting standards
Excellent communication and presentation skills for engaging with senior leadership and external stakeholders
Desirable:
Experience in ERP systems (SAP, MS Office, PowerBI)
Experience in a fast-growing, global organization, particularly in manufacturing and sales
Knowledge and experience in transfer pricing and international tax compliance
