As part of Gallagher’s Animal Management division, eShepherd™ is leading the charge in smart farming tech - redefining how livestock is managed.
eShepherd™ is our breakthrough virtual fencing solution that enables farmers to monitor, move, and manage cattle from anywhere. Using GPS-enabled, solar-powered neckbands, farmers can create digital fence lines on their phone - transforming land use, reducing labour, and improving environmental and animal welfare outcomes.

We need a Business Development Manager who’s ready to champion this technology, forge lasting partnerships, and grow our presence across New Zealand. Here’s where you come in.
What You’ll Tackle
This is a high-impact, growth-focused role where you’ll take ownership of driving revenue and building strong relationships with farmers, distributors, and partners.
From identifying new business opportunities and expanding market reach to closing major deals, you’ll be the catalyst behind eShepherd’s continued success.
You’ll combine strategic thinking and tactical execution to:
- Drive revenue growth and market expansion through client acquisition and partnerships
- Build a robust pipeline of quality customers and close sales with confidence
- Champion the eShepherd value proposition, tailoring solutions for each farm’s unique needs
- Provide insights to inform product development and go-to-market strategies
- Support major tenders, contract negotiations, and account growth
- Collaborate closely with marketing and customer success teams to deliver an exceptional experience from first contact to long-term adoption

- A background in agriculture, business development, marketing, or related fields
- Proven success driving revenue and customer acquisition in solution-selling environments
- A practical understanding of farming business and practices
- Strong emotional intelligence and communication skills to build credibility and trust with producers
- A strategic mindset balanced with the energy to get things done
- Experience working in start-up or growth-focused sales environments
- Willingness to travel to connect with customers and partners face to face
